Brand new Stones Throw signing Sofie is a Vienna-based songwriter who's cut her teeth as a member of the original Boiler Room crew, and presents a monthly show called SOS Radio on NTS Radio. Her first tune for the increasingly popular Californian label (known best as the musical home of the likes of J Dilla, Sudan Archives and new TMR faves Automatic, amongst many more) is a mesmerising, psychedelia-tinged pop tune that pairs competent songwriting with Sofie's lusciously languid vocals. Following a dramatic backbone of effected piano chords, effortlessly funky bass lines and high, sliding guitar pairs add to the wooziness of the track. Released as a taste of things to come, '99 Glimpses' is an aptly-titled introduction to Sofie's off-the-charts potential.
